G of the Day

It's what we've all been waiting for: the official release of the long awaited "Rolling Papers." For that, we award G of the Day to Wiz Khalifa. Wiz has been doin it big for awhile now, since his first mixtape release back in 2005 with Prince of the City. From that point forward, you hear Wiz grow as an artist, changing his sound but still keeping his old school feel. With a constant stream of free new music since '05 and a chance to see the life of Wiz with the "DayToday" series just to see the kind of guy he is, Khalifa has acquired one of the strongest grass roots fan base in the game today. And with the release of more popular songs like "Black and Yellow" and "No Sleep," he's gotten his name farther out there for everyone to hear. After a listen through, it seems like there's a few things missing (Snoop, Rozay, etc.) which is probably something to do with Atlantic Records, not Wiz; but the album still comes together real nice with features from the likes of Curren$y, Too Short and Chevy Woods. Because of this, we'll probably see some unofficial Wiz releases in the near future with these artists, like what we've seen in the recent past with a lot of Eminem releases. I think he really shows off his versatility moving from a song like "Roll up" to the other end of the spectrum with something like "On My Level" on the album. It's great to see someone who works hard and raps for his fans to finally hit it big. Let's hope he doesn't go out there and pull a Vinny Chase on us now. Go out and buy your copy today!
